One quick tip that I learned over my years as a house wife was how to keep my flowers fresh. There is nothing better then getting fresh flowers from your husband. But I hated seeing them dye so fast! One thing that I learned to keep my flowers fresh was to put ice in the glass with them. This is something that popped into my head after visiting a local florist. I noticed that they keep their flowers really cold and always in ice cold water. This helps the rate of decay to slow down.  Once i started trying it at home it worked really well. My flowers were lasting anywhere from 3 to 6 days longer then before because of the ice! The main thing that i did was to change out the water and put in fresh ice ever day. This made a big difference in the decay time and my flowers were able to hold their color as well.
