Background:
I love, love, love coffee! I have been drinking coffee since I was a baby and even had it put into my bottle as a child by my great grandmother. One thing that has not changed in the years since I have been drinking coffee, is that I love strong coffee. This lead to my obsession with Starbucks. So after almost reaching Gold Status (30 drinks) with in four months, I started looking at how I could bring that experience home with me, at a less expensive cost. I looked at a bunch of coffee maker reviews from Americas Test Kitchen and that is where I found out about the French Press. It was amazing to find something that cost so little that could make my coffee experience so different. The best part was that I found the French Press at Ross for $7 and didn’t require a big spot on my kitchen counter or access to an outlet. After that I was hooked. I was able to take the same Starbucks Experience and make it at home every time.
Why It Works:
The French Press is the best option for people that like good coffee at home, because it is consistent. This is one of the main reasons why people like to get coffee from places like Starbucks. Having a reliable machine that produces consistently good coffee, will start to build confidence that the coffee can be made at home as well. This also lets you make sure that you understand everything that is going in the coffee. This can mean what type of grounds, cream and sweeteners.
Recommendations:
Heat up water like you would for a Tea Kettle. Put in three scoops of ground coffee and pour in the same amount of cups of water. (If you change the amount always make sure that you keep it 1 cup of hot water to 1 tbsp of grounds)
Put the “lid” back on the grounds and let it steep for five minutes. Then once the time is up push the plunger down to separate the grounds from the liquid. Enjoy. * If you want to make batches of coffee for future, then store it in a glass container. This will make sure that your container does not change the flavor of your coffee.
